Fostering Saves Lives

Fostering helps reduce overcrowding in shelters and opens space for another pet to be saved. When you foster a pet in need, you are giving them an opportunity to live in a home where they can fully express their personalities and decompress, work to overcome fears, recover from trauma, or recuperate from medical procedures. You can help us get to know an animal better in order to help find them the perfect forever home!

Nevada SPCA provides all of the necessary supplies – you provide the TLC!

After-Hours Foster Care Veterinary Service

Nevada SPCA is proud to offer after-hours emergency veterinary triage to our foster parents through video telehealth services, with these costs covered by Nevada SPCA. The VetTriage veterinarians will triage your pet to assess if you are facing an emergency that requires an immediate visit to an emergency hospital. If you do not need to go in, they will provide home care and monitoring instructions. In the event you need immediate assistance, they will help you find the nearest 24-hour emergency veterinary hospital.

Give a Dog a Day Out

Take an eligible shelter dog out for a day – or in some cases, even longer – and give them a much-needed break from shelter life. Whether it’s a hike, a walk in the park, a car ride, backyard playtime, or simply relaxing at home, these field trips provide valuable enrichment and help us learn more about each dog’s true personality outside the shelter.

Give a dog a mini-adventure filled with fresh air, new sights, and plenty of affection. Whether you can foster for a few weeks or just a few hours, your time makes a life-changing difference. Just complete our online foster application, and once you receive a confirmation email, you’re ready to enjoy a special day with one of our shelter pups!

Nevada SPCA Fostering Form

Nevada SPCA understands that sometimes additional support is needed to help care for an animal. Fostering provides a temporary, lifesaving solution while an animal waits for their next step. Please complete a foster application below to get started.

All foster placements are by appointment only. Nevada SPCA has a limited number of foster opportunities available at any given time, and placement may depend on current needs and available resources. Appointment timing can vary based on the volume of foster applications received.

Please allow 3–4 business days for your application to be reviewed. You will receive an email from our Foster Team with next steps (please remember to check your spam or junk folder).
