Helping Pets & People in Enterprise, NV

Nevada SPCA’s Commitment to Enterprise, NV, Animals

Nevada SPCA has been Southern Nevada’s original no-kill animal shelter since 1982, and for Enterprise families, that history carries meaning. We operate as an independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit, which means we don’t receive funding from any government agency or from any national SPCA or ASPCA organization. Every dollar donated by Enterprise residents goes directly toward the animals in our care, right here in Southern Nevada. Each year, more than 2,000 dogs, cats, rabbits, and small pets come through our doors, and we treat every one of them as an individual with a personality, a history, and a future worth investing in. Our commitment to responsible, transparent stewardship has earned us Charity Navigator’s highest 4-star rating and Candid’s Platinum Seal of Transparency, two recognitions that reflect how seriously we take the trust our community places in us. When Enterprise residents support Nevada SPCA, they’re backing an organization with more than four decades of proven, locally rooted work.

Give a Foster Pet a Place to Land in Enterprise, NV

Some animals in our care need something a shelter environment can’t fully provide, and that’s where Enterprise foster volunteers make an enormous difference. By opening your home to a foster pet, you offer them consistency, quiet, and the kind of one-on-one attention that helps them settle, grow, and prepare for adoption. We rely on foster families most heavily for very young animals who aren’t yet old enough to be adopted, pets working through recovery after a medical procedure, and animals who simply need a calmer space to come into their own. Nevada SPCA covers all the supplies and veterinary care, so all you need to bring is your time and your love. If you have room in your Enterprise home and a willingness to help, we’d love to have you. Learn more about becoming a foster family and see what a difference a temporary home can make.

Keeping Enterprise Pets and Their Families Together

Nevada SPCA’s commitment to animals doesn’t end at adoption. Through our community support programs, we work to keep pets in the homes where they already belong. Funded entirely by grants and donations, these programs give Enterprise pet owners access to practical resources during financially difficult times, helping them care for their animals without having to consider surrender. Our veterinary assistance programs connect families with affordable medical care when a health issue arises and the cost feels out of reach. Our pet pantry food assistance makes sure animals in struggling households don’t go without meals. We also offer $5 microchipping, a small investment that dramatically improves the likelihood of a lost pet being reunited with the people who love them. If you’re an Enterprise resident going through a rough stretch, and you need a hand caring for your pet, we’re here for you.

Volunteering in Enterprise for the Animals Who Need It

There are many ways to support Nevada SPCA’s mission, and volunteering is one of the most direct. Our volunteers contribute thousands of hours each year, and their work touches nearly everything we do. Whether you’re walking dogs, socializing cats, helping at adoption events, or lending your professional skills to behind-the-scenes operations, there’s a way to plug in that suits your schedule and your strengths. Volunteering also connects you with a community of Enterprise residents who share your values and your care for animals. If in-person time isn’t something you can commit to right now, you can still get involved through donation drives and community outreach efforts. Whatever form your support takes, it moves us closer to our goal of finding every Enterprise animal a loving home.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the adoption process?

Nevada SPCA is a walk-in shelter, and adoptions are based in first come, first served. The adoption process typically takes about an hour. During this time, you'll meet the pet and speak with our knowledgeable staff to ensure that they're a good fit for your home and lifestyle. If it's a good match, you can complete the application and bring your pet home the same day. You must be 18+ years of age to adopt and provide a valid photo ID with current address. A meet-and-greet with any current household dogs is required for some dogs. If you are renting, you are responsible for checking your lease agreement for any pet restrictions including and not limited to breed and size.

Am I responsible for veterinary care once this pet is adopted?

Once the adoption is finalized, you are responsible for establishing care for your pet at a veterinary clinic of your choice. We will provide you with the pet's current medical records at the time of adoption.

What is an FTA?

FTA stands for Foster to Adopt. Any animal with "FTA" listed after their name is part of our Foster to Adopt program. Nevada SPCA's Foster to Adopt program allows pets - typically young puppies and kittens who are not yet old enough or large enough to be spayed or neutered - to go into loving homes before their surgery. These animals stay with their foster family until they are ready for their procedure, at which point the adoption is finalized. This program is crucial because it keeps young animals out of the shelter during their critical developmental months and allows Nevada SPCA to help more pets in need by freeing up shelter space.
